What We Offer

Our volunteers mean a lot to us and they help us reach many more of our clients so we want to make sure our volunteers have the best possible time when they volunteer for us.

Don’t just take our word for it though! See what our volunteers have to say about us below!

What will you gain?

Our volunteers make a massive difference to our service so it is important that they have a great experience with us. Some of the benefits of volunteering with us include:

  • The opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of Chesterfield’s most vulnerable.
  • A member of staff dedicated to supporting you throughout your journey.
  • A full induction including bespoke training.
  • High levels of support including regular 1:1 and group supervisions.
  • The chance to learn new skills and develop old ones.
  • The opportunity to meet like minded people and make friends.

What do our volunteers say about us?

“I am a retired nurse and at a loss to continue to feel useful in the world. These ladies have given me as much as they have been given. Over the weeks I have seen them all relaxing, chatting, laughing, and realising they can be themselves and forget past and present troubles, even briefly. What a lovely giving organisation I have found. It’s a privilege to volunteer” Chris – Aug 2023

“I really enjoy working closely with the Pathways team, meeting people and making a positive difference. Supporting the Pathways team (who are brilliant!) has been a highlight and supporting the local community has also been very rewarding”  Neil Nov – 2022

“All the staff and volunteers I have come across are all lovely and all so passionate about the work they do which is so nice to see”  Toni – Oct 2021

“Meeting clients face to face I had mixed feelings at first – just the thought of approaching strangers really – but I was always with a regular member of staff, who knew the clients by name so was an enjoyable experience and they were a friendly bunch! All the staff are friendly and welcoming – You feel part of the team”   Eve – Aug 2021

Homelessness is something that really upsets me, it is something that I feel no one should have to face. I kept feeling like I wanted to do more for the people I saw on the streets. I had a look online at what organisations help the homeless and how I could do more to help, and I came across Pathways, which looked like a great organisation to get involved with.  The staff are super welcoming, friendly and supportive. Pathways is such a great service for the homeless, with so many opportunities to volunteer in different roles. I have a very busy life outside of volunteering and I can help out when and where I can”.  Steph – June 2021

“I got involved as I wanted to use my time and energy to help a small local charity. Growing up in London it’s hard to ignore what a serious problem we have with the amount of people experiencing homelessness and I knew I wanted to help tackle the issue. When I moved to Derbyshire, I looked for local homelessness charities and found that Pathways were looking for a volunteer and got in touch. Pathways seemed like a fantastic charity, and I loved the focus on holistic care. It is so nice to work with so many likeminded people who want to help those in need of support”.  Holly – June 2021
