Reception Volunteer

Aims of Volunteer role:

Our drop in session runs Monday – Friday 10am – 12pm. This gives people that are experiencing a homeless crisis the opportunity to come in and see one of our housing workers. It can get very busy meaning people have to wait until they are able to see someone. Initially they were allowed to wait outside but we have now decided to open up one of the rooms to use as a reception area for people to wait.

The role of the volunteer will be to sit in the reception with the service users until they are able to be seen. This will include chatting to them and making the cups of coffee etc. They will also have to keep a list as people come in to make sure that the clients are seen in the correct order.

Required tasks:

  • Socialize with service users.
  • Make cups of coffee and tea for service users.
  • Build the confidence of service users and make sure they are okay.
