Melissa began working at Pathways in October 2023, bringing with her a strong familiarity with and passion for the organisation. Prior to officially joining the team, she had previously worked at Pathways and also volunteered for around two years. During that time, she developed a deep connection to the mission and values of the organisation.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. She takes pleasure in simple pastimes such as going for walks and shopping, which help her to recharge and stay grounded.
Now, as a housing worker at Pathways, Melissa plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability. She works closely with clients to assess their needs and help them access appropriate accommodation and resources. Her approach is both empathetic and practical, always aiming to meet people where they are and support them in moving forward.
What Melissa values most in her role is the opportunity to make a real, positive difference in people’s lives. Every day, she supports individuals through some of their most challenging moments, helping them take steps towards greater stability and independence. It is the human connection that motivates her — building strong, trusting relationships with clients and knowing that no two days are ever the same. She also takes great pride in being part of a team that shares her passion for supporting others.
“Melissa is a major asset to the housing team here at Pathways. She is dedicated and caring towards all our clients, never giving up no matter how complex their needs are. She works hard to ensure clients are given choices to find the most suitable home for them. Melissa always has a kind word and lights up the office with her smile and chatter! She willingly takes on board whatever is asked of her and I’m so proud of how much her confidence has grown over the last 16 months of working with her”.
