In advance of the Pathways of Chesterfield Art Exhibition and Silent Auction (Dec 2nd 3pm-8pm, West Studios) we wanted to highlight some of the artists who’s work will be exhibited. As well as people who access the service, some of our volunteers work is also being exhibited. One of these volunteers is Chris.Chris joined us to volunteer when we launched our Women’s Group back in April 2023. She is a retired nurse who has spent most of her life caring for others and volunteering filled the void in her life that her retirement created.
Chris is a valued member of our volunteering team, she bakes every week and creates some beautiful pieces of Art. We wanted to include her work in our exhibition to celebrate her and all the fabulous work she does. Her painting talent is truly amazing.
This what Chris said about volunteering for us:
“I am a retired nurse and at a loss to continue to feel useful in the world. These ladies have given me as much as they have been given. Over the weeks I have seen them all relaxing, chatting, laughing, and realising they can be themselves and forget past and present troubles, even briefly. What a lovely giving organisation I have found. It’s a privilege to volunteer”
