Frank is a single man in his 40s who came to Pathways for help when he was evicted from his mother’s house and found himself with no option but to sleep rough, or on a friends sofa when he could. He suffers from severe depression following a family bereavement which has led to him developing an alcohol addiction.

Frank did not want to be referred to supported housing as he was working so Pathways helped him complete a Home Options application form for the council and explore private rent options. We also referred him to Derbyshire Recovery Partnership for support with his alcohol use. Whilst looking for housing options pathways supported Frank with food, clothing and sleeping bags as well as Foodbank referrals.

Frank found a couple of private rent options but could not pass the credit checks that the landlords were asking for and was not able to secure a guarantor. Eventually he found a landlord who would accept him and Pathways applied to Vicars Relief Fund for £500 towards his first months rent and bond to help him secure the property.

Frank has now moved into his new home and is doing better with his mental health and alcohol use. Good luck in your new home Frank!
