What a month September has been celebrating all individuals who are in recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction!

Alongside our own Graffiti event, we have been to visit some of the other projects in the Growing Recovery in Derbyshire Network to show love and support to their organisations and clients on their celebration of recovery.

Chesterfield FC Community Trust support people to become more physically active to lead a healthy life. Their event included a tour of the football stadium, chair-based exercises and a talk by ex-professional football player, Shane Nicholson who was permanently banned from playing due to drugs and alcohol and how he overcame his addiction and turned it into a positive by helping others.

STAND TO who are a part of DAAS, supports veterans within Derbyshire’s Ex-forces community to keep moving. Their event included chair base exercises, Yoga and a circuit game of rock, paper, scissors then run for your life and down into press-ups. (still recovering physically now haha).

Rhubarb Farm & Elastic FM joined up together and put on a sober festival called ‘The Hope Festival’. Their event included live bands playing, food stalls, mocktails, a recovery street film and a variety of incredible speeches from individuals of their journeys through recovery, including Rhubarb Farms Recovery Lead Ben. (I think we all welled up at this point). Our Graffiti boards even made a special appearance hung around the festival!

Thank you to all for letting us be a part of your events and celebrating the amazing resilience and hard work of all individuals fighting addictions, they all truly deserve it! Looking forward to next years!
