Job Title: Recovery Worker
Bec started at Pathways at the end of April 2024, she has a beautiful daughter and 3 gorgeous devil dogs. You can often see her marching into work with her earphones in, she likes going on the sunbeds (her therapy session), she loves spending time with family and friends, and binge-watching true crime documentaries and soppy romantic films until she cries, then she has to comfort herself by eating chocolate!
Bec always has a smile on her face and a true believer that you never truly know just how much a person may have needed that smile, she believes if we all spread a little love and kindness, the world would be a better place to live in.
Previously Bec felt unfulfilled in her job, so decided to make a change. She loves working for our Charity and feels motivated and driven to support all her clients to get back on their feet, Bec loves the values that Pathways represents and wanted to be a part of a team that truly helps others and shows so much kindness and respect.
Being our Recover worker, Bec supports clients who suffer with drug and alcohol addictions, doing 1-2-1 psychosocial work, building up confidence and self-esteem, supporting them to access treatment and further support at DRP and to attend other appointments they feel anxious about. Bec moulded this role at Pathways as she is our first Recovery worker, she loves the fact that it was a blank canvas!
Bec really relishes spending time with clients and building a positive and healthy relationship with them, she especially enjoys meeting people from all walks of life and tries tirelessly to make them realise that on their bad days that they are worth so much more than the negative they feel.
When asked what she likes best about working at Pathways she said:
“Meeting all the clients that come through pathways, I absolutely love to sit and talk to them, listening to their stories and building a positive rapport and being able to support and guide them in areas they struggle the most. I adore the Pathways team so much, they’ve become like family to me in such a short space of time and have all welcomed me with open arms and it feels so nice to wake up and not dread going into work every day, instead I bounce in smiling excited to see everyone – I feel like I’ve been here forever but in such a positive way”.
Hilariously Bec did mention that she can make a brew whenever she wants too! Which did make us giggle!
This is what our CEO Sian says about our Bec:
Bec has been an amazing addition to the Pathways team. Bec has really pushed our recovery work forwards, she is bringing to life how I hoped this role would work, with new ideas, and a drive to support people to enjoy life again. Bec pays attention to small details to try and make people we support lives a little nicer even when things are tough. Bec is a hugely positive person which is contagious to both clients and staff. I am excited to see how the recovery project continues to develop with Bec leading the way.
