Job Title: Office Manager
Laura has worked at Pathways for 5 years and was office manager for a small charity in Manchester for ten years prior. When Laura moved back to Chesterfield, she decided that she wanted to return to work in the third sector to help people in need, she had been working in the private sector which didn’t give her the job satisfaction that she needed.
Outside of work Laura is passionate about scouting, she is a Scout Leader and has been since she left scouts at 16 years old to become a Rover (adult scouts). She is now nearly 40! (But that’s a secret). Laura loves being able to help develop young people into useful members of society who can communicate and work as a team, she makes a huge difference to the lives of youngsters.
Laura absolutely loves being a Mum to Joe (2) and being a wife to Andy, they all spend as much time as possible together as a family. They love camping and spending time outside and love visiting animals at zoos, farms and aquariums!
Laura is the Office Manager at Pathways; her role varies greatly from day to day. Being responsible for the charity’s finances, HR, health and safety, managing the buildings, social media, fundraising and supporting the CEO and rest of the team with whatever they may need keeps her very busy!
Laura has stated that she absolutely loves the fact that every day is different in her role at Pathway’s, from working on charity accounts one day to running a fundraising event next or facilitating one of the activity groups when needed. Laura loves her team at Pathways and that they all try to do their best every day to make other people’s lives better.
When Laura was asked what her best experience was at Pathways she replied:
‘I loved my first big fundraising event, the Great Garden Sleepout in 2020. Under difficult circumstances we managed to run a successful event, adapting the original plan to a sleepout in gardens at home instead of together in the football stadium. Seeing everyone come together and raise so much money was such a wonderful experience during a really difficult time for everyone’.
Our CEO Sian had this to say about Laura:
“Laura works tirelessly behind the scenes at Pathways to keep us all organised. Laura always works with a can-do approach and when we bring in new ideas she always supports the team to create a workable plan to take things forward. Laura is very passionate about the work Pathways does and you can very much tell she belongs in the voluntary sector with her ability to have a go at anything from finances for the entire charity to chief BBQer for an event. Laura’s infectious giggle can often be heard through the building”.
