Sarah was born and bred in Chesterfield and in her spare time likes to keep fit through dance and walking in nature, she loves to travel and has just recently come back from Plymouth! The sea is one of her favourite things! Sarah has her struggles physically and mentally, but she always turns up with a huge smile on her face ready to make someone’s day brighter.

Sarah previously volunteered at Pathways many years ago when we were based on Sheffield Road. The service has changed a lot since then, but Sarah always knew that coming back to volunteer was what she wanted to do.

Currently Sarah helps run the games group and helps at our rough sleeper’s breakfast session. She works closely with another volunteer called Ian during the breakfast who refers to her as his toast fairy! She whizzes about making teas and coffees, heats up beans and makes toast. It can get busy so working in harmony is paramount.

Sarah loves to interact with our clients during games group and is one hot UNO player! She really likes to see the positive change that happens with people at Pathways. She said, “It’s so rewarding making connections with people who need it the most”.

This is what Claire our Volunteer & Activity Coordinator said about Sarah:

“Sarah is extremely generous and kind, she has a heart of gold and although she has her own struggles with mobility and her mental health, she always brings her ‘A Game’ when volunteering and brings out the best in people. She laughs lots and its infectious, by the end of our games group the room’s alive with banter and laughter. The right way to start off our Mondays!  We absolutely love having her on our team and the people we work with adore her too!”
