On Saturday 5th October at Holymoorside Village Hall, a successful collaborative arts event organised by Holymoorside and Walton Arts Festival Society raised £100 for Pathways. Featuring local artist Ian Geary, writer/poet Leonie Martin and musical trio Flutello, the varied programme included a presentation of twelve paintings, readings from a sequence of accompanying poems and a selection of musical interludes on the theme of water and light. Several of the paintings and poems drew inspiration from Chesterfield’s own Crooked Spire (Saint Mary and All Saints Church) along with other local landmarks including Bolsover Castle.

Leonie Martin said: “we are so grateful to Ann and Paul Grinbergs, Carole Rainbird and everyone who came along to support the enjoyable event and help us to raise funds for a local charity dear to my heart. As winter approaches and many in Chesterfield are struggling for shelter and provisions, it was a privilege to be able to combine our different creative talents in this way, drawing inspiration from several local landmarks to reflect on history, belonging and hope. When Ian and I first began collaborating a year ago, it was with the idea of creating a book length collection, so having this autumn event to focus on has really helped us to make a great start on our project. Watch this space!”
